The transatlantic community and the European Union face unprecedented challenges.
We live through the second year of war of attrition in Ukraine while trying to assimilate the implications of a dynamically evolving conflict in the Gaza Strip. The dual crisis threatens the post-Cold War international order, peace and stability in the European continent, the Middle East and beyond. It also poses an existential challenge to the institutional international system established after WWII.

The Athens Security Forum, 29-30 November, will bring to the fore the political, defence and security dimensions of the evolving crises. The ASF is the flagship annual event of the Institute of International Relations (IDIS), the leading Greek research center affiliated to the Panteion University of Political and Social Sciences. It is organized in cooperation with NATO, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Hanns Seidel Stiftung, the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, the Harriman Institute at Columbia University and Transparency International.

For two days, policymakers, diplomats, analysts, think tankers, academia, and journalists will come together to dissect unfolding events, debate their significance, and inform policy development. Each year, we strive to contribute to our collective effort to conceptualise and deliver regional and national security.
